Removal of Conditional Status due to Marriage
Do you have a 2-year conditional residence permit granted through marriage?
At Santiago Legal LLC we help you convert it into a legal residence without conditions, even if you are separated or divorced.
What is Conditional Residency?
If you obtained your residency through marriage to a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and you were married for less than 2 years, USCIS grants you conditional residency valid for 2 years.
Before it expires, you must apply for removal of conditional status to obtain your permanent immigration status, or you could lose your right to live and work legally in the United States.

How can we help you?
At Santiago Legal LLC, we guide you through the entire process to ensure your immigration status remains unaffected. We assist you with:
Preparation and submission of Form I-751
Advice on how to present the case jointly with your spouse
Support in complicated cases, such as separation, divorce, or situations of violence.
Gathering evidence of good faith in the relationship
Legal strategies if you no longer have spousal support
Legal representation if your case goes to an interview with USCIS
The process is not automatic. You must act before your card expires, preferably within 90 days of the expiration date.

What tests do you need?
Some key evidence to prove your marriage was legitimate:
Children in common
Joint tax returns
Shared bank accounts
Lease agreements or joint ownership
Family and travel photos
Testimonials from friends or family
Correspondence addressed to both
Don't you have much evidence or are you separated?
Don't worry. We'll analyze your situation and present a solid case, even with little evidence or without a spouse's signature.
Cases in which you can file without your partner
You can file Form I-751 without your spouse if:
Are you divorced or legally separated?
Was your spouse abusive or caused you emotional harm?
The marriage was in good faith but ended due to causes beyond your control
In these cases you can request an exemption from the joint signature requirement.
At Santiago Legal LLC, we know how to present these cases with care and legal sensitivity.

Is your conditional card about to expire and you don't know how to proceed?
Don't jeopardize your legal status. At Santiago Legal LLC, we speak Spanish, offer in-person or video consultations, and prepare your case with dedication.
